Samantha has been a journalist and broadcaster for more than 20 years – she is currently presenting on the BBC where she covers all the main programmes for BBC World News including the agenda set “ The Briefing” news and business programme on BBC 1 and Business Live on the BBC News Channel. She is also presenting on BBC Radio 4 – hosting their ‘One to One’ series.
Samantha presented on Sky News for more than a decade, anchoring coverage of some of the biggest stories of recent years. These included the murder of British MP Jo Cox, the EU referendum live from Gibraltar, several general elections and the terror attacks in Tunisia and Brussels. She also broke the news of the sudden deaths of Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse and Heath Ledger.
Samantha loves the challenge of handling live breaking news and dealing with the biggest events of the day – interviewing senior politicians, business leaders, celebrities and ordinary people often at the centre of shocking events. Samantha is now regularly asked to speak at City firms, schools and motivational events about her career, juggling work and motherhood and the challenges for women along the way. Her blog about parenting and issues around women in the workplace have gained a huge following are often featured in the national press. She has also written some travel reviews for the national papers. Samantha also writes for the Huffington Post and is regularly asked to appear on daily TV and radio programmes to comment on parenting and women’s issues.
Samantha has a reputation for bringing personality, energy, warmth and humour to corporate and motivational events she hosts or speaks at. Her conference hosting includes compering the Qatar-UK business investment forum alongside the British Prime Minister Theresa May and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thanis. She has also hosted the regional investment fund forum for the Department of International Trade alongside Secretary of State Dr Liam Fox, the Sainsbury’s Living Well Forum alongside it’s CEO Mike Coupe, the Police Federation Conference and Hewlett Packards prestigious 100 Club in Barcelona alongside its CEO Meg Whitman.
Her speaking work includes presenting a talk in Oslo for the Gyldendal publishing house on the phenomenon of “Fake News”. She was the guest speaker at Cityparents annual forum talking about the “Work-Life Balance Myth”. She has spoken at Deloitte Oslo about Brexit and at Bird and Bird law firm about her career to date. She has also spoken at Highgate School and was invited back to her former school, the Grammar School at Leeds, to be their guest of honour at their prize giving and deliver their keynote speech.
