Rob Curling has been a regular presence on British television for over 30 years in news, sport, factual, and, to a lesser extent light entertainment. He was the on-course announcer at the London 2012 Olympic games and presented for the rowing regatta at Eton Dorney.
A BBC stalwart, Rob anchored the ‘red button’ coverage for virtually every major sporting event, and fronted numerous documentaries and outside broadcasts, including the 50th Anniversary series marking the end of WWII, The Boat Show, Railwatch, airshows and a music series for BBC Education, for whom he also presented the award-winning current affairs series Issues. He hosted all 9 series of BBC1’s popular quiz show Turnabout, presented the BBC’s regional news programmes London Plus and Newsroom South East and more recently has been anchoring Eurosport’s tennis coverage.
Rob hosts conferences and awards ceremonies for a vast array of companies across a whole raft of industries, including sport, leisure, health, IT, aviation, brewing, broadcasting, construction, financial and automotive. In addition to conference hosting, Rob is also an experienced after dinner speaker.
In his after-dinner speeches, Rob peels back the underlay from the magic carpet of television. He reveals some of the horror stories of presenting live news and sports programmes, many from his own bitter personal experience. He takes you behind the scenes of The London Olympics, and talks of his time on Beadle’s About when he nearly gave the game away whilst filming The World’s Best Ever Hidden Camera Stunt.
The Scania Young European Driver of the Year Final was the culmination of an intensive period of promotional activity. It was important that we conveyed the intensity of the competition to the invited audience. Rob generated fantastic energy and enthusiasm as well as total involvement in presenting the competition – without doubt Rob’s dedication to the task was first class. I would have no hesitation in recommending Rob or indeed using him again at any corporate Scania activity. Rob was a perfect ambassador for Scania.
It was fantastic working with Rob. He was extremely professional and I really enjoyed working with him on The Tennis Sussex Awards. Rob took time to find out about the event and all of the individual awards categories and winners in advance of the event, and he more than totally delivered on what we asked for. Everyone commented on how easy it was to work with Rob and how brilliant he made our event. Chair, Tennis Sussex
