Sailing is quite simply the most effective sport at facilitating intense experiential learning and team development. It encompasses all the key ingredients of high performance; planning, motivation, delegation, teamwork, leadership and communication.

This training solution is designed to accelerate high performance in teams, leaders and managers. Learning is facilitated and fully debriefed by highly experienced Round-the-World Yacht Race crew who specialise in experiential learning.

Sailing +

Sailing + includes a day or more sailing on a luxury yacht with a professional skipper and facilitator; both round-the-world crew from 'The Global Challenge - the World's Toughest Yacht Race'. They leverage the skills and expertise acquired during the year-long challenge and apply them to your business situations.

Sailing + provides 'your crew' with sailing training (helming, navigation, sail trimming etc); knowledge and tips from the Global Challenge; facilitation on your objectives - be it teamwork, leadership, communications, crisis management, etc.

The experiential learning package can vary from a one day team-build around the Isle of Wight, to a week in a remote location developing leadership skills.

Example: three days including: safety and boat familiarisation; rotating roles of navigator, skipper and helm; learning to sail; facilitated sessions on team goals and values etc; discussions and scenarios from the Global Challenge; a night sail.

The Rafting Experience

Raise the Bar’s Rafting Experience is a fun and energetic way to bring your team together to work towards a common goal – away from the workplace. Tasked with various challenges based around building and sailing a raft with a selection of materials, the experience brings together teamwork, leadership, creativity and innovative thinking.

Challenging and fun, the Rafting Experience is a great way to bring your team back to the basics of teamwork and leadership, allowing them to view their individual and team skills from a different perspective, taking lessons back from the day to apply within the workplace.

The Rafting Experience can be incorporated into a day’s team building or can be run as a standalone activity.

The Raise the Bar Rafting Experience is held at Dorney Lake, a world-class rowing and flat-water canoeing centre situated in a spectacular 400-acre parkland setting near to Windsor, Eton and the River Thames. Originally opened as the boating lake for the pupils of Eton College in the 1960s, the lake has swiftly gone on to become one of the most spectacular boating locations in the country, and will be the venue for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
