Phil Thompson was part of the dominant Liverpool football team of the 1970's and 1980's and over the years proved to be one of the greatest characters ever to grace a Liverpool shirt.
The great Bill Shankly gave him his first break and he went on to prove himself a class act. He made 477 appearances for Liverpool and his proudest moment was when he lifted the European Cup in 1981. He also played for England and captained the national team.
He was appointed as Assistant Manager to Gerard Houllier at Liverpool in 1998 and went on to have a spell in charge of the first team in 2001 when Houllier had to undergo major heart surgery.
He left Anfield in 2004 and since then has established a great reputation as a sought after TV sports pundit on the popular Sky Soccer Saturday. As a motivational speaker, Phil draws on his vast experiences in football and the media to deliver fantastic presentations.
