Karen Pickering MBE

One of Britain's most successful female swimmers - Former World Champion & World Record Holder. Focus on Increasing Staff Motivation.

A veteran of four Olympic Games Karen's story is one of competing against the odds, teamwork and motivation. Representing her country over a twenty year period she finished up with two World Records, thirty five major Championship Medals and in 1994 she became the first female British Swimmer to win a World title.

One of the most consistent swimmers on the circuit Karen has also had to battle against the odds and none more so than in 1996 when she broke her back in a car accident that would have finished the career of a lesser athlete.

This accident became a motivation for Karen and her performance at the 2002 Commonwealth Games was testimony to this after she won two Gold Medals, one Silver and was given the honour of carrying the English flag at the closing ceremony of the Games.

Karen now spends time as a motivational speaker talking about her career and her motivation to succeed.
