Derek Redmond

World Gold & Silver medalist - Commonwealth & European champion for 4x400m relay. He covers dealing with adversity, personal motivation and teamwork.

Derek attained gold medals in European, Commonwealth and World Championships throughout his career as a 400 metre sprinter. Unfortunately, this was to be a career that also suffered serious setbacks time and again through injury,the most notable of these being in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, when his hamstring snapped midway through the semi-final round. With the help of his father, Derek hobbled over the finish line, leaving a lasting impression with all who witnessed it, one of strength and determination.

It is exactly these challenges that make Derek such an motivational speaker, demonstrating how his personal principles of Goals, Team Building, Application, Performance and Overcoming Obstacles helped him to achieve what had at one time seemed impossible.
